Attention out-of-state coaches: The Hole In The Wall Cross Country Invitational is an NFHS sanctioned meet. If you have questions or concerns about bringing your teams, please contact our meet director, Jeff Sowards for more information.

Custom "Hole In The Wall" NIKE backpacks will be awarded to the top finishers in each race.

Custom "Hole In The Wall" medals will also be awarded to the top 15 finishers in each high school race.

Custom "Hole In The Wall" ribbons will also be awarded to the top 10 finishers in each middle school race.

Unattached runners are not eligible to race in the high school or middle school races due to NFHS rules. However, they may compete in the Scott Skiles Memorial All-Comers race at the end of the high school races. Registration for the Scott Skiles Memorial All-Comers race is done on-site, day-of-race only.

Team tents are allowed in approved Tent Area's only. Any tents outside of the approved areas will be asked to move.

A preview of the 5k Championship Course from 2014. The current course utilizes a revised start and entrance into the stadium. Please check back soon for an updated course video.

Course Description

The Hole In The Wall 5k Championship Course will challenge racers of all levels. It is a 2 loop course with a mix of 80% grass, 8% track, 12% gravel road, and two wood bridges.

The 1.7 mile Middle School course is the first loop of the 5k Championship Course, finishing at the 5k Championship Course finish.

There will be time clocks at the 1 Mile, 2 mile, and finish line.

High school racers may preview the course Friday, October 11th after 5:30 PM after the middle school races have concluded. Please DO NOT come on campus prior to 2:30 PM as school classes will be in session.

The course will also be open for preview Saturday morning, October 12th until racing begins at 9:00 AM.

2024 lane assignments will be posted, October 9th, 2024 and updated thereafter as needed.


Lane assignments are created by alphabetizing registered teams, then using a random number generator to assign each team a number. The corresponding number is then the team's lane assignment.

Ipico Timing System

The Hole In The Wall Invitational is timed using the IPICO chip timing system.

Detailed instructions on proper use and shoe attachment will be distributed in the team packets.

Pre-registered racers will pick up 2 coded chips (one to be attached to each foot) and zip-ties for the timing chips at the Check-In tent next to the start line. To pick up chips, the individual racer must present their individual racing bib. Chips may not be traded with another racer as they are coded to the specific individual.

Lost or stolen chips will incur a $15 Lost Chip Fee per individual charged to the school the individual is registered under.

Team packets will be available for pick up at the Packet Pick Up tent next to the finish line.


Each school will have its own packet containing the following:

  • Mens and/or womens individual racing bib numbers

  • Safety-pins for bib numbers

  • Timing chip attachment instructions

  • 2 course maps

  • Race schedule

  • Lane assignments

  • 1 garbage sack

First Aid

There will be a Certified Athletic Trainer and Physical Therapists on site. EMT's will be on call for medical emergencies if they cannot be stationed at the event due to other emergencies in the surrounding community.

A medical tent will be set up in the Finish Line area for those in need of medical attention.

MEDICAL INFORMATION should be readily available on all your athletes - allergies, medical conditions, etc., & parental releases to treat.

All athletes with asthma should have a rescue inhaler with them at the meet, AS WELL AS, a full, individually marked inhaler in the team medical supplies.

    Athletes and Coaches

  • Spikes worn by athletes must be 1/4 inch pyramid style only; if they are recessed, only 1/4 inch may be exposed. Spikes will be checked at the start line.
  • Bib numbers are to be worn on the front of the jersey.
  • All athletes must be wearing matching uniforms.
  • The Meet Official will be conducting uniform checks at the start line in accordance to WIAA and NFHS rules and regulations.
  • Please have runners run over the chip mats and keep moving to the far end of the finish corral.
  • No tents are to be placed on the stadium field.
  • Please use your hotel rooms to dress. Shower and changing facilities will not be provided.


  • Spectators

  • No dogs or other pets are allowed on school grounds.
  • Vendors will be on site selling Hole In The Wall themed merchandise.

As always, the concession stand inside the stadium will be busy fulfilling your orders!
